It has been done before as an official set many years ago, and recently as a massive, 13,000 piece, minifig scale MOC. However, neither of those options met criteria. The original is WAY too small and expensive now, and We don't have thousands of dollars to spend building that monstrous Minifig scale version, so this is more in the sweet spot for display and affordability.
